  • Greenport's Noah's Restaurant on Front Street
The simple sign of Noah’s Restaurant in Greenport

Noah Schwartz is a native Long Islander and a New England Culinary School graduate. He worked for over seven years in California’s wine country and then moved to Long Island North Fork Wine Country.   He spent several years at the Sea Food Barge, and when that closed, he opened his own restaurant.  He has experience opening restaurants, and this one is very special to him as it is his own. Noah’s in Greenport.  Noah will bring to Noah’s a culinary experience enjoyed in California, and he is already receiving positive customer feedback.  Recent reviews had customers raving about the scallop ceviche and pomegranate ribs.  The sardines were quite a surprise and totally delicious as is the  Pulled Duck from the Crescent Farms in Aquebogue.  There are so many Oyster dishes that you’d think he’d call the place Noah’s Oysters. Even though the menu is mostly fresh seafood, Noah is a master with Steak, which is done with Manchego Cheese and rich, crispy onions, which is yummy.
The concept at Noah’s is to offer “small plates” at the top of his menu ranging from $6 to $15.  Thus, allowing his guests to sample multiple smaller plates and enjoy a variety of dishes.  The menu also features 2-3 oz. wine pours to accompany the small plates.  Of course, to balance this, he will also have snacks on the menu beginning at $3.  Truly a delightful way to dine!
We have eaten there several times and recommended Noah’s to guests who rave about the selections and love the ambiance and personal service. What we love the best are the small plates giving us more choices and the opportunity to sample several dishes.  Noah’s Restaurant is now the newest and hottest restaurant in Greenport.
Call for reservations at 631-477-6720 and tell them, Wilfred, from Arbor View House Bed & Breakfast, sent you.

The Oysterponds Historical Society Summer Benefit

Oysterpond Summer Benefit
People in and out of large tents enjoying the Festivities at the Oysterponds Summer Benefit

Orient is one of North Fork’s most exclusive and historical places. Settlers have been there since the 1640s.  The Oysterpond Historical Society (of which I am a Board member) holds this annual event.

From OHS’s website: “The Oysterponds Historical Society (OHS) was founded in 1944 to preserve the historical significance of Orient and East Marion communities that were still largely populated by direct descendants of the European settlers three centuries before. OHS founding members Mrs. Henry F.J. Knobloch, Mrs. Alma Knox, and Mr. George R. Latham were concerned about the gradual disappearance of Native American artifacts, documents, family records, tools, art, and other surviving evidence of the maritime, agricultural, cultural, and religious life of the early residents of this area.

Today, OHS maintains seven historically-significant buildings located in the heart of Orient, New York’s landmark historic district; cares for 8½ acres of grounds, including Poquatuck Park, a cherished community gathering spot; and actively manages a collection of over 60,000 items, including historical artifacts, documents, diaries, works of art, and archival objects dating from early Native American times all the way through the 20th century. Our archive, which is particularly strong in correspondence and diaries, is a rich and valuable resource regularly used by scholars, writers, genealogists, and students.”

The Long Beach Bar (Bug Light) Lighthouse
Bug Light – This Lighthouse is one of the 8 Lighthouses here on the North Fork of Long Island
New York's Long Island is home to almost 20 lighthouses, most spread along the northern shore or up at the east end on the North Fork, also known as wine country! Touring the Lighthouses of Long Island is an excellent and romantic getaway.
No Long Island vacation would be complete without at least some time spent investigating the wineries of the North Fork. Long Island’s North Fork is home to nearly 40 wineries and has long been considered one of the best viticultural areas in the country.
Wineries, while one of the biggest draws to the area, are hardly the only North Fork attraction. Long before there were vineyards or a wine country to be enamored of, Long Island was primarily known as a port for its abundant fishing. Consequently, the Long Island Sound shoreline is dotted with lighthouses.

East Marion is just two miles east of Greenport and past the Lavender Farm. At this end of the Island, water embraces us on three sides, filling the air with that distinctive, salty fragrance. The rhythmic sound of lapping waves is never far from your ears. The area is not well populated. Long Island Wine Country VacationThere’s never a bad time to enjoy a Long Island Wine Country vacation and historic Greenport Village makes for the perfect North Fork home base.
Long Island’s North Fork is wine country, with some 3,000 acres of vines, vineyards, and tasting rooms. This happy fact alone makes Long Island’s North Fork the perfect place to get away from it all. Greenport is located in the heart of Long Island’s wine country. This makes the historic, Long Island village a naturally convenient home base for visiting our many wineries.

North Fork Long Island Golf CoursesNorth Fork Long Island golf courses run the gamut from 9-hole to 18-hole, par 3 to par 73. One thing is for sure – if you’ve come to the North Fork to golf, you’ll have a wide variety of courses to choose from!

Enjoy A Long Island Lighthouse Cruise!
See historical lighthouses like the Long Beach Bar (Bug) Light on a Long Island lighthouse cruise!
What better way to explore the historic lighthouses of Long Island’s East End than with a Long Island lighthouse cruise with the East End Seaport Museum?
Many people don’t realize it but Southold, New York, located on the North Fork of Long Island, has more lighthouses than any other town in the United States: eight, with seven offshore, including the Plum Island light, Orient Point, Latimer Reef, Little Gull, Race Rock, Horton Point, North Dumpling, and the iconic and oft-photographed Long Beach Bar Light – more commonly referred to as the Bug Light.
