HD Glass Studio: In 2000 artists Bengt Hokanson and Trefny Dix began a collaborative body of blown glass vessels under the studio name Boar Glass. Bengt and Trefny were inspired to create a body of work that explored abstract color and texture patterning on sculptural glass forms. They worked to create a series of work where large blocks of color and layers of pattern flowed across the surface of their glass forms.
Although much of the work is created as a series of groups, each piece is treated like an abstract painting and is therefore unique. Greenport’s maritime landscape was an early influence on Bengt and Trefny’s work. They have also found great inspiration from the abstract painters: Rothko, Gorkey and early Mattisse. Other sources of inspiration include: world textiles, tropical aquatic life forms  and urban graffiti. Located at 414D First St. in Greenport.
Boltax Gallery: For those of you with a penchant for the modern, check out Boltax Gallery on Shelter Island. Founded in 2001, boltax gallery is a contemporary art gallery representing a diverse and international group of emerging and mid-career artists. It is their objective to present progressive work of all artistic mediums and to support, foster and encourage a dialog between art, artists and community. Located at 21 North Ferry Rd. on Shelter Island.
