It’s beer and bivalves in Greenport for the 2016 Columbus Day weekend – and that’s not all! Held at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company’s Carpenter Street location also means live music.
The annual Oyster Festival has become a favorite local tradition in a very short period of time. Local oyster growers, like hosts Little Creek, look forward to the event and bring their best for your slurping pleasure. Oysters on the half shell, fried, grilled, oysters Rockefeller, and more. So good!
More than just oysters, Greenport Oyster Fest will have plenty of other good things on hand to eat. And to drink? Held at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, you can bet the festival will have plenty of great beer on hand. The special Oyster Stout from Greenport Harbor Brewing should be a smash hit!
Local music duo, The Daves, will be the entertainment for this year’s Greenport Oyster Fest. The Daves are known for delivering toe-tapping, stripped down versions of songs from artists like Ray Charles, the Drifters, the Moonglows, Eddie Floyd, and Wilson Pickett. Greenport Harbor Brewing hosts a wide variety of great music groups throughout the year. Other attractions include Little Creek’s 3rd annual Oyster Shucking Competition with Amateur and Pro entries! Watch as oyster shuckers race to beat each other in a variety of categories.
Cornell Cooperative Extension will also be on hand offering a special workshop for a hands-on eelgrass restoration experience. among other things.
