If you are planning a trip to New York City, make sure you take a day or two to get out of the urban metropolis and visit the beautiful North End of Long Island. You can drive here in less than two hours (if you time it to avoid rush hour). You can also take the Long Island Rail Road. Greenport is the last stop and where you want to get off!
We would recommend you stay for at least one night, if not two, so you can enjoy multiple aspects of the North Fork. So the first thing to take care of is reserving yourself a room in our romantic North Fork bed and breakfast.
North Fork Wine Tours
Next for your North Fork weekend should be winery tours. If you have a car with you on the island, it is easy to transport yourself from one winery to the next in our small grape-growing region. However, if you took the train or would rather leave the driving to someone else, there are lots of tour companies that will provide not only transportation but fascinating information and insight on the Long Island wine scene. One such group is Vintage Tours, but there are others. When you make your reservations, let us know what kind of experience you are looking for and we can help you make the arrangements. Even if you would prefer a chartered car to set your own route and pace, that can be arranged.
North Fork Beaches
There are miles of glorious beaches in North Fork. Surrounded by the Peconic Bay and the Long Island Sound, you should leave yourself time for a beach picnic, bike ride or fishing trip. To enjoy many of the beaches, your car must display a valid parking permit. When in doubt, check with us and heed to the posted signs.

Good wine is delectable. Good jazz is delightful. The combination of outstanding wine and jazz is cause for jubilation. These days there is much jubilation on the North Fork of Long Island, thanks to Jazz on the Vine.
Jazz on the Vine brings exceptional jazz musicians to Long Island wineries from February 11 to March 18, 2012. During these six weekends, North Fork wineries simply buzz with activity and music. Guests of our Long Island Bed and Breakfast are well situated to take advantage of all the special events.
This is the fifth winter that jazz and wine are joining forces on Long Island. The program in 2012 is even bigger and better than in past years, with more than 70 performances at 20 wineries. On any given day, one can hear several performances and try wines from different vineyards.
Jazz on the Vine hosts award winning jazz groups, such as the Vadim Neselovskyi Trio and All that Jazz, an All Star Super Band known for its expansive repertoire rooted in Mambo, Funk, Nordic, South African and Jazz. There are jazz quartets, jazz singers, and funky duos. There are Afro-Cuban Jazz musicians, Brazilian musicians, and musicians with Gospel roots. The variety of music that floods North Fork Wineries during Jazz on the Vine is almost as astounding as the sheer talent behind it.
Participating New York wineries include: Bating Hollow Farm Vineyard in Baiting Hollow, Macari Vineyards in Mattituck, and Peconic Bay Winery in Cutchogue. Numerous performances take place each Saturday and Sunday. Venues include waterfront tasting rooms and majestic estates overlooking acres of grape vines. Avid wine tasters and jazz fans can make their way from one vineyard to the next, sipping different varietals as they are serenaded by different musicians.
You won’t want to return to the city after an afternoon of wine tasting. You’ll want to sleep on the North Fork of Long Island and then repeat the glorious experience the following day. You can. Spend the weekend at Arbor View House, our New York Bed and Breakfast near Greenport.
Please find more information at Jazz on the Vine.
It’s easy to understand why so many people plan romantic getaways on Long Island. There is something inherently romantic about the place, especially the North Fork.
The water embraces us on three sides, filling the air with that distinctive, salty fragrance. The rhythmic sound of lapping waves is never far from the ears. There are few people here–enough to justify excellent restaurants and wineries, but not so many as to make it feel crowded. There are miles of sandy beaches to walk. You can see the stars at night.
When was the last time you devoted a weekend to romance? When was the last time you went away with your one and only? Was it last fall? Last summer? Isn’t it time you had a romantic getaway at our Long Island NY Bed and Breakfast?
Linger over a late dinner in nearby Greenport, and sleep in the following morning. When you awake, make your way downstairs to a romantic, candlelit, four-course breakfast. Pamper yourself with spa services. Hire a car to transport you to several of the award-winning wineries close to our inn. Walk hand in hand along the beach. Go for a nice, long bike ride.
