Long Island Wine Country VacationThere’s never a bad time to enjoy a Long Island Wine Country vacation and historic Greenport Village makes for the perfect North Fork home base.
Long Island’s North Fork is wine country, with some 3,000 acres of vines, vineyards, and tasting rooms. This happy fact alone makes Long Island’s North Fork the perfect place to get away from it all. Greenport is located in the heart of Long Island’s wine country. This makes the historic, Long Island village a naturally convenient home base for visiting our many wineries.
Most Long Island wineries welcome visitors with open arms and, even better, wine tastings. They also host a great many of the North Fork’s special events, including concerts, tastings, tours, and much more. One of the area’s most popular wineries is right here in Greenport: Kontokosta Winery.
Kontokosta Winery (825 North Road) is unique in that it is the only winery in Long Island to feature both a tasting room and a waterfront location. The 62-acre property overlooks Long Island Sound, which offers expansive views from the winery’s 9,000 square foot tasting room. Stop by to sample or purchase a bottle from their impressive selection of award-winning wines and enjoy the stunning vista.
Visit the Long Island Wine Council website for a list of more Long Island Wineries.
Greenport Village is also home to one of Long Island’s most celebrated breweries, Greenport Harbor Brewing.
Greenport Harbor Brewing (234 Carpenter Street) is a Long Island craft brewery producing a wide variety of both main-line and small-batch beers. The brewer opened a second location in Peconic, NY (42155 Main) that features a full-service restaurant.  The Greenport location focuses more on small batch brews and offers a taproom. Both locations are equally worthy of any craft beer lover’s attention.
Greenport is also home to some of Long Island Wine Country’s best restaurants! All five of the restaurants listed below have received rave reviews and “Good” ratings from The New York Times.

First and South is an artful and cozy bistro serving seasonal New American fare, including brunch.
