Railroad Museum of Long IslandTrain fans and history buffs alike will enjoy a visit to either branch (or both!) of the Railroad Museum of Long Island, located in Greenport and Riverhead, NY.
It’s natural that Greenport host a branch of the Railroad Museum of Long Island as Greenport is the reason the Long Island Railroad was built in the first place! While having a railroad on Long Island would have happened sooner or later, early Greenport’s buzz of commerce made the inevitability that much more of a going concern.

Tall Ships of America 2015
History comes to life with three masts and a crows nest at Long Island’s Greenport Village this year with a 4th of July visit from the Tall Ships of America 2015!
Greenport village has a long and storied history, having first been settled in the 1600’s to become a major whaling and shipbuilding port. Then came the fishing and huge oyster industries which brought the railroad and, consequently, over-fishing. Greenport, like many ports, made changes to adapt and improve itself, becoming a major destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.
Thus, it should come as no surprise that Greenport would have the honor of playing host to the Tall Ships of America 2015 – and not on just any date but on Independence Day, July 4th, 2015!
