One question is why The North Fork of Long Island can produce wine. The North Fork, with its Bordeaux-like climate, has over 50 vineyards and over 50 functioning wineries and vineyards. The North Fork is a peninsula surrounded by water, the Peconic Bay, and the Long Island Sound. Cutchogue is the sunniest region of New York State. So the vines have more sunny days and a relatively temperate is heavily influenced by the presence of Long Island Sound, Peconic Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean.
