Long Island Vineyards Named Part of the 'Top Ten Wine Regions in the World’ by Wine Enthusiast magazineWine Enthusiast magazine named Long Island vineyards one of the ‘Top Ten Wine Regions in the World’ earlier this year, surprising some folks but not those of us who live or love it here: of course we are!
Not only do we have wonderful wines made by talented winemakers at established vineyards but we have the *atmosphere* of a world-class wine region (we call it the “North Fork” but let’s keep that between ourselves so the rest of Long Island doesn’t get jealous, eh?).

To quote the article by Anna Lee C. Iijima:

Fringed by sandy beaches and bustling fishing villages, rolling farmland and forest sanctuaries, Long Island wine country is unlike any region in America. Just a two-hour drive from Manhattan, it’s a unique amalgam of metropolitan influences against a core of hearty, agricultural tradition. Family-owned farms, artisanal food producers and small-production winemakers mingle amongst tony Hamptonites, sharing the wealth of the region’s land, sea and vines.

Long Island Vineyards Named Part of the 'Top Ten Wine Regions in the World’ by Wine Enthusiast magazineThat’s true and we wouldn’t change a word of that, not a one, except maybe to mention that you don’t have to be a wine lover to appreciate the atmosphere that makes Long Island one of the top ten wine regions in the world … but it couldn’t hurt.
The Long Island wine industry is a young one – our region turns 40 this year – but in those years we have gone from one, small vineyard to over fifty. From a few acres producing to over three thousand acres tended to by world-class vintners producing a variety of award-winning, sophisticated wines.
North Fork’s wine trail gives you a wonderful view of these sprawling vineyards with tasting rooms, special vintages, concerts, hayrides and a number of other distinctive and fun attractions, all here on Long Island.
Of course, we love to be a part of the region and invite you to stay with us at Arbor View House during your tour of one of the top ten wine regions in the world, right here on Long Island. See you soon!
