Long Island Winterfest 2012 Going Strong

March 9th, 2012 by Gail

The 5th annual Long Island Winterfest Jazz on the Vine series at North Fork Vineyards is going strong. Two weekends remain: March 10-11 and March 17-18. Our North Fork Long Island Bed and Breakfast still has rooms available both weekends; be spontaneous and come out to Jazz on the Vine.

Long Island Wineries Celebrate Jazz on the Vine, Raphael

Experience great wine and great jazz at Raphael.

Jazz on the Vine has been wildly popular so far this year. Wine drinkers have expanded their appreciation of jazz, and jazz fans have expanded their palates. Jazz and wine are a perfect combination, really, like bread and cheese or milk and cookies.

Remaining Winterfest highlights include (but aren’t limited to):

  • The magnetic Shenole Latimer Quartet at Raphael (March 10, 4:30).
  • Ojoyo, a wonderful fusion of South African and American music, at Duck Walk Vineyards North (March 10, 4:30).
  • The eclectic Curtis Brothers at Macari Vineyards (March 11, 2:00).
  • Enchanting vocalist Laurent Kinhan at Bedell Cellars (March 11, 4:00).
  • Oscar Peñas Ethereal Ensemble at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyards (March 17, 1:30)
  • The mezmorizing Jack Morelli Trio at Jamesport Vineyards (March 17, 4:30).
  • Jazz Fusion pioneers, The Avengers, at Duck Walk North (March 17, 3:00).
  • Singer/guitarist Ahmad Ali at Sherwood House (March 18, 2:00).
  • Mambo Loco at Raphael (March 18, 3:30).

You can be driven by the wines or the music. Decide who you want to see and go from there, or decide which wines you want to try and let the music surprise you. There are several performances each day at several different wineries, so you are sure to find something you like. Consider it a grand adventure.

Arbor View House, a North Fork Long Island Bed and Breakfast, makes a great base during Winterfest Jazz on the Vine. We’re located in the quiet village of East Marion, close to the wineries and the hopping seaport town of Greenport.

Please visit Jazz on the Vine for a complete Winterfest Schedule, and call 800-963-8777 to  make a reservation at Arbor View House.

North Fork’s Jazz on the Vine

February 27th, 2012 by Gail

Good wine is delectable. Good jazz is delightful. The combination of outstanding wine and jazz is cause for jubilation. These days there is much jubilation on the North Fork of Long Island, thanks to Jazz on the Vine.

Long Island Winterfest, Jazz on the Vine

Several weekends of superlative jazz and wine on the North Fork of Long Island.

Jazz on the Vine brings exceptional jazz musicians to Long Island wineries from February 11 to March 18, 2012. During these six weekends, North Fork wineries simply buzz with activity and music. Guests of our Long Island Bed and Breakfast are well situated to take advantage of all the special events.

This is the fifth winter that jazz and wine are joining forces on Long Island. The program in 2012 is even bigger and better than in past years, with more than 70 performances at 20 wineries. On any given day, one can hear several performances and try wines from different vineyards.

Jazz on the Vine hosts award winning jazz groups, such as the Vadim Neselovskyi Trio and All that Jazz, an All Star Super Band known for its expansive repertoire rooted in Mambo, Funk, Nordic, South African and Jazz. There are jazz quartets, jazz singers, and funky duos. There are Afro-Cuban Jazz musicians, Brazilian musicians, and musicians with Gospel roots. The variety of music that floods North Fork Wineries during Jazz on the Vine is almost as astounding as the sheer talent behind it.

Participating New York wineries include: Bating Hollow Farm Vineyard in Baiting Hollow, Macari Vineyards in Mattituck, and Peconic Bay Winery in Cutchogue. Numerous performances take place each Saturday and Sunday. Venues include waterfront tasting rooms and majestic estates overlooking acres of grape vines. Avid wine tasters and jazz fans can make their way from one vineyard to the next, sipping different varietals as they are serenaded by different musicians.

You won’t want to return to the city after an afternoon of wine tasting. You’ll want to sleep on the North Fork of Long Island and then repeat the glorious experience the following day. You can. Spend the weekend at Arbor View House, our New York Bed and Breakfast near Greenport.

Please find more information at Jazz on the Vine.

Judy Carmichael Performs at Jazz on the Vine

February 9th, 2010 by wilfredjoseph

Winterfest on Long Island.  What is it all about?  It is about having over 80 performances from February 13th to March 21st.  A special Steinway kickoff event has been scheduled for Friday, February 12th at 7 P.M. at Wolffer Estate Vineyards.  The event will feature Grammy award nominee and East End’s own Judy Carmichael, a world reknown stride pianist.  Judy is just one of over 80 musicians and performers that will be participating in this year’s, Jazz on the Vine on Long Island.

Well it is said that a story says 100 words, and then a video tells even more!  We have two videos to share with you from the 2009 Jazz on the Vine.  Matt Marshall is a smooth guitar player and here he is playing “Wind Chill Factor”.  If you prefer Latin Jazz, then take a look at this performance from Mundo Clave-Chucho .  Remember that all performances are free at Jazz on the Vine.

So, what would you like to hear?  Pop? Jazz? R&B? Contemporary? Blues? Latin?  The schedule for Jazz on the Vine has just about everything that you can imagine.  Once you participate in Winterfest, we know that you will come back year after year.  This year, the Arbor View Bed and Breakfast will be featuring a free daily reception from February 15 until March 21 from 3-5 P.M. during Jazz on the Vine!

Join us for Jazz!
